Sounds like powers, weapons and other gear won’t transfer Destiny players have long wondered what will happen to their characters, abilities and gear when the game’s sequel arrives later this year. Today, Bungie answered that question, confirming that players’ characters will carry over from Destiny to Destiny 2, but that a lot of other things won’t. “Power, possessions and Eververse-related items and currency” will not carry forward from Destiny to Destiny 2, Bungie explained in a post on the game’s official website. Presumably by “power and possessions,” Bungie means light levels, abilities, armor and weapons.

We’ve reached out to the developer to clarify. What will carry forward is character personalization — the way your Guardian looks — but only for characters that have reached level 20 and completed Destiny’s Black Garden mission. “We know that, just like us, you have grown fond of the Guardians you’ve created, so we do plan to preserve your character personalization,” Bungie said. “We are going to recognize the dedication and passion you’ve shown for this world.

Specifically, the class, race, gender, face, hair, and marking selections for all characters that have achieved Level 20 and completed the Black Garden story mission will carry forward. We also plan to award those veteran accounts with honors that reflect your Destiny 1 accomplishments. ” “We believe this is the best path forward. It allows us to introduce the major advancements and improvements that all of us expect from a sequel, ensuring it will be the best game we can create, unencumbered by the past.

” Bungie says it has one more live event, Age of Triumph, planned for the original Destiny and promises details on that content update soon. Activision and Bungie plan to release a full sequel to Destiny sometime this year.
