Mass Effect: Andromeda Is A New Story Unaffected By Your Original Trilogy Ending
While the Mass Effect franchise has an ardent community, the trilogy’s conclusion left some people feeling cold. Thankfully (or not, depending on your perspective) the new installment, Mass Effect: Andromeda, will not take into account your past decisions. Speaking with Eurogamer, BioWare studio head Aaryn Flynn and creative director Mac Walters explained how they are approaching the new branch of the story. The duo suggest that they want people to be able to come in fresh, which means not requiring players to understand how the first trilogy wrapped up. Because the decisions at the end of Mass Effect 3 only spread to the edges of the Milky Way, players won’t see the impact in Andromeda. However, there will be touchstones to the races and characters to the rich lore created in the first three games.
Mass Effect Andromeda will be out in early 2017 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. For more, check out the E3 trailer. [Source: Eurogamer] Our TakeCreating a brand new story in an established universe is tricky. You want to welcome new players and forge a new path, but you don’t want to abandon those that have been with you since the beginning. This walks a tightrope that avoids the poor community response to the Mass Effect 3 ending while still respecting what people loved about the franchise, which is pretty much everything else the trilogy offered.
