Mass Effect: Andromeda will not feature a DLC season pass
DLC details still forthcoming BioWare will likely expand upon Mass Effect: Andromeda with downloadable content, but there won’t be a season pass to cover any of the add-ons, the studio confirmed over the weekend. Responding to a Twitter question on Saturday about whether Andromeda will feature a season pass, BioWare general manager Aaryn Flynn simply said, “Nope. ” This isn’t surprising.
Although BioWare delivered a number of memorable expansions to Mass Effect games, such as Mass Effect 2’s Lair of the Shadow Broker, publisher Electronic Arts did not offer a season pass for any of the three previous titles. Instead, the company went with a mix of free and paid add-ons that either came with a game or were sold as stand-alone items — just look at the long list of content mentioned in the Mass Effect Trilogy. EA did include an Online Pass with new purchases of Mass Effect 3, but that only applied to the game’s co-op multiplayer mode.
In a follow-up tweet, Flynn hinted that BioWare also has plans for Andromeda when it comes to DLC. Asked about potential story add-ons or multiplayer DLC — Andromeda will include a multiplayer component, but BioWare hasn’t revealed it yet — Flynn said, “We’ll talk more about that later. ” There are still more than 10 weeks to go until March 21, the release date that EA announced last week for Mass Effect: Andromeda on PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One.
The company also released a new trailer that left some fans concerned about the game’s revamped character setup; you can watch it below.
