Watch Mass Effect: Andromeda gameplay in a new galaxy 'where you are the alien'
Powered by Frostbite Engine BioWare debuted an extended look at Mass Effect: Andromeda today during the Electronic Arts' E3 press conference in a short video featuring new gameplay and input from members of the team. BioWare general manager Aaryn Flynn talked briefly about Andromeda, which he called a new adventure taking place in "a galaxy where you are the alien. " Players will be part of an "ambitious expedition" to the Andromeda galaxy. "At the heart of Mass Effect: Andromeda is a question: How far will we go? " Flynn said. "…Everything is new. " In the video, which you can watch above, the narrator explains that the team is "going further than ever before to" to build a new home for humanity.
BioWare has said previously that Andromeda will take place "far away from and long after the events of the original trilogy. " The game will introduce an online component, as well as new species and alien races. Halo 4 writer Chris Schlerf was attached to the project as lead writer, but left the company earlier this year to join Destiny developer Bungie. Mass Effect: Andromeda was unveiled at E3 2015 and originally slated for launch this holiday. The game has since been pushed back to an early 2017 release.
